I Live Here: Ali Hadiashar

Name & Age: Ali Hadiashar & Thirty

Hometown: San Jose, CA

Current Neighborhood: Mississippi District

How do you pay the rent and what is your slash? Analog Circuit Designer/Non-profit pub starter/Random biker

What do you create? Currently I design circuits for wireless audio. Things like wireless headsets and speakers.

How did you land in Portland? We heard a lot of good things about the city and found a sublet in a sweet neighborhood and thought we would give it a try. 7 months later and we are still loving it.

What is the last book you read? Technopoly by Neil Postman. Sad but chillingly true account of how technology gives us an endless supply of information that ends up being useless. It was also written 19 years ago.

Name your favorite tattoo. If I were to get one it would be a watch with the text: Now what time is it?

What was the last thing you ate at a food cart? Pineapple Express at Lucy’s Original. Inside-out cheeseburger with pineapple, bacon, peanut sauce, and sriracha mayo, it was pretty mindblowing.

Oregonian, Willamette Week, or Mercury? Mercury.

What is your favorite bridge and why? Broadway Bridge. I love being able to see the Steel Bridge on one side and the Fremont on the other. I heard about Bridge Pedal, where you can actually bike over the Fremont. I should do that.

Stumptown Coffee or _________? I never really drink coffee, but I always the start the day off with a green smoothie. A head of lettuce and whatever fruit I have.

Coast or Mountains? I probably have to go with mountains. I haven’t been to the coast yet and I guess it depends whether or not you can go in the water.

Only in Portland moment? Watching The Thermals play at the Oaks Park Skating Rink while skating and giving strangers standing along the rink high fives. We’ll leave out the part where I fell on my butt doing it.

A favorite local business? So many to choose from. Here are three:

North St. Bags: Custom made backpacks and panniers for your bike

Myoptic: Optometrist that gives a portion of examination fee to a local charity of choice and does a lot of other awesome things.

Bikeasaurus: Lots of cool things for bike lovers and their bikes.

Are you a car person or a bike person? This should be obvious by now. We are lucky here to have such proximity to everything and great bike infrastructure to get pretty much anywhere you need to go.

If you could change one thing about Portland, what would it be? I don’t know yet.

And finally, where can we find you on the web?
