How do you pay the rent and what is your slash? Communications Manager for Nike’s WHQ Sports & Wellness Centers/photographer/climbing guidebook author

What do you create? For fun & money I create photography, make random things from wood, Carver Bouldering Guide & Blog, and I start conversations with strangers. For work I craft emails, update websites, make posters, shoot photos & go to meetings.

How did you land in Portland? Like a lot of people I moved here because of a girl. We both graduated from UNC-Wilmington and we moved out here in 1998 so she could go to graduate school at PSU. She went one term and missed her family and NC more than she wanted to stay in PDX. So I drove her back to NC in 4 days and then I spent 2 months rock climbing across the country on my way back to Portland. I’ve called it home ever since.

What is the last book you read? Boneshaker by Cherie Priest

Name your favorite tattoo. It is a tattoo of mine that says “earthsuit” and the words are on fire. It represents non-attachment to my body – my earth suit.

What was the last thing you ate at a food cart? Cinnamon Sugared Almonds or an Elephant Ear – not sure – Saturday Market indulgences.

Oregonian, Willamette Week, or Mercury? OregonLive, WW in print

What is your favorite bridge and why? I love all of the Willamette River bridges as individuals and in concert especially, but my current favorite is the N. Vancouver Avenue Bridge that crosses the Columbia Slough.

Stumptown Coffee or _________? I make Tully’s breakfast blend at home and I can enjoy a mocha just about anywhere else in town.

Coast or Mountains? I love the coast for relaxing and getting back to my primordial center, but my passion for rock climbing has me spending plenty of time in the mountains.

Only in Portland moment? I recently saw a mom taking her son to school. She was on her bike and her son was on his skateboard holding onto her bike’s luggage rack and getting towed to school through the neighborhood.

A favorite local business? The food and the owners are great at Que Pasa Cantina, SE 12th & Madison

Are you a car person or a bike person? Pick-up truck with a topper, kayak racks, and a rocket box.

If you could change one thing about Portland, what would it be? It would only rain in the very early mornings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and every other Sunday evening.

And finally, where can we find you on the web?
