How do you pay the rent and what is your slash? I’m a digital marketer by trade and own 2 search engine marketing agencies, Anvil Media & Formic Media. I’m also married with children, which is also a full-time job.
What do you create? I help build businesses, career and community. My digital marketing agencies help grow companies small & large, local and global. My side project, pdxMindShare, is an online and offline career community helping to grow Portland-area professionals and I’m on the board/executive committee at SMART, the early literacy program, which creates future leaders from today’s readers.
How did you land in Portland? When my post-college internship in Seattle ended, I blasted my resume out to agencies up and down the West Coast. A small PR firm in Portland interviewed me and hired me on the spot, so I moved down here in 1995 knowing only 1 person, my cousin.
What is the last book you read? Unbroken. Amazing.
Name your favorite tattoo. Alfred E Newman.
What was the last thing you ate at a food cart? Burger at Ché Café.
Oregonian, Willamette Week, or Mercury? Mercury’s weekly entertainment recap in the front section when possible.
What is your favorite bridge and why? St. John’s: gothic, relevant, beautiful.
Stumptown Coffee or _________? Chamomile tea… I don’t drink coffee, much to the chagrin of my family.
Coast or Mountains? Coast in summer, Mountains in winter!
Only in Portland moment? Bought my “Generic Portland Bike Tshirt” from NW Tshirts at the Alberta Street Fair recently.
Are you a car person or a bike person? Bike whenever I can. Love the speed, vague danger and 0 carbon footprint.
If you could change one thing about Portland, what would it be? Fewer clouds and rain only at night, just like Hawaii or other tropical locations. Otherwise, we’ve got it pretty good here.
