I Live Here: Andrea Mansfield

Name & Age: Andrea Mansfield, 27

Hometown: Bellingham, Wa

Current Neighborhood: Multnomah Village

How do you pay the rent and what is your slash? I recently launched a small business, Brand & Bloom, out of my spare bedroom–it’s been a dream for a long time! I am a small creative business coach–basically I encourage and inspire small creative business owners to grab onto deserved success through their awesome brand.

What do you create? I LOVE the creative process so my business suits me nicely. At work I create bold messages that motivate people through workbooks and chats. But I can’t keep my hands off painting, paper goods, and colorful pens.

How did you land in Portland? It’s always been in the back of my mind. After college it seemed to be a natural progression from my little hippie town. It’s everything I could ever want in a small-big city!

What is the last book you read? The Martha Rules by Martha Stewart. I sheepishly picked it up in the bookstore (ok, embarrassingly picked it up) but found myself not being able to put it down. Her success was of pure intention and gutsy hard work. I felt like a stronger businessperson after reading it.

Name your favorite tattoo. My “She” tattoo on my back that wraps around a verse from a short story by Anais Nin about being an old soul and finding passion in life. I forget it’s there sometimes and I catch tables of people at dinner or in a fitting room staring and following the words with their finger, it always makes me laugh. (And blush)

What was the last thing you ate at a food cart? White truffle fries from Violetta. Perfection.

Oregonian, Willamette Week, or Mercury? Willamette Week–not as much sarcasm

What is your favorite bridge and why? Broadway–I love seeing the city from her view.

Stumptown Coffee or _________? I am a converted Stumptown lover. But the NW roaster Tony’s will always hold a dear place in my coffee loving heart.

Coast or Mountains? That’s like choosing chocolate or vanilla, so much better together! Ok, ok, the coast. But I love a cold, windy, vast open space coast.

Only in Portland moment? My sweetie and I were eating alfresco on Alberta when we heard some loud noise getting closer. Next thing we know there was a naked bike parade passing us by. That is so Portland–but when the other patrons looked and went back to eating like it was nothing was even more Portland.

A favorite local business? Pix because they serve melted chocolate in a bowl, House of Vintage because it’s a house. Of vintage. And while this is an organization, I am proud the Japanese Gardens reside here.

Are you a car person or a bike person? Car or walking person. I like to go fast, or really slow.

If you could change one thing about Portland, what would it be? I wish there were more sidewalks in our neighborhood–for my slow walking days.

And finally, where can we find you on the web?
