Name & Age: Peter Gold, 36
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Current Neighborhood: Nob Hill
How do you pay the rent and what is your slash? Counselor (petergoldtherapy.com) and massage therapist (petergoldmassage.com). And yes, they are mutually exclusive. I also teach Qigong, Tai Chi, yoga, and meditation.
What do you create? Cozier bodies and more harmonious psyches.
How did you land in Portland? Long story short: school.
What is the last book you read? Owning Your Shadow by Robert Johnson. Glad to remember that there’s gold in that thing too.
Name your favorite tattoo. Plumeria flower on the scapula, I think it’s the artist’s style I liked so much.
What was the last thing you ate at a food cart? Sweet potato fries in SE.
Oregonian, Willamette Week, or Mercury? Mmmm….OPB, mostly NPR, but occasionally WillyWeek.
What is your favorite bridge and why? Marquam, the vistas can’t be beat, but Freemont’s a close second.
Stumptown Coffee or _________? Tao of Tea. Last I check my friend and I still held the record: 8 hours: 3 teas, 2 meals, 2 portfolios, and lots of yapping.
Coast or Mountains? Montanas, for sure. I’m a skier and first came to Portland and Mt. Hood as an 11 year-old for summer ski camp–my first solo trip away from home. I love the coast though too and after four years living here I finally discovered the gem that is Manzanita.
Only in Portland moment? The driving in this town continues to astound me. It’s a wonder that when I first moved here I loved it. I’m hoping that the concept: “go around,” comes to Portland some time soon.
A favorite local business? So many, I love this town and the businesses in it so much. If I had to choose one it would probably be Food Front Co-Op in NW. Other favs include Biwa, Cacao, Nedd Ludd, Portobello, Prasad, and Divine Pie.
Are you a car person or a bike person? Car, though I have aspirations of evolving.
If you could change one thing about Portland, what would it be? I’d add a major league baseball stadium so that summer days could be wasted away at the ballpark with peanuts and beer (I miss Wrigley).
And finally, where can we find you on the web? Petergoldtherapy.com, Petergoldmassage.com, and archetypalqigong.com.
