I Live Here: Geoff Gibson

Name & Age: Geoff Gibson, 25.

Hometown: I don’t have one. I moved around a lot as a child.

Current Neighborhood: Downtown.

How do you pay the rent and what is your slash? I’m the marketing director for a small media company and I own a small toy company called Stuffless, Inc. We produce niche/geek/odd plush toys and creatures sometimes original, sometimes licensed. I also write about the Portland Timbers at StumptownFooty.com and volunteer regularly at the HI Hostel Northwest to give tours and the like.

What do you create? Plush toys… primarily. I’ve also been known to create some custom modifications by turning old game cartridges into unique items.

How did you land in Portland? I’ve always had family here since I was very little. As such I was able to visit often. In early 2010, I decided it was time to live and experience living in the amazing city. Haven’t looked back since.

What is the last book you read? A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. Fantastic series of books that easily tops the best fantasy books ever released including Tolkein’s masterpiece.

Name your favorite tattoo. La Vache Qui Rit. My own tattoo on my back.

What was the last thing you ate at a food cart? Hmmmm egg sandwich I think from Om Nom Nom on 50th and Division. Do recommend.

Oregonian, Willamette Week, or Mercury? Oregonian for news. Willamette Weekly for events. Portland Mercury for recycling (not really I just don’t read em at all).

What is your favorite bridge and why? Hawthorne Bridge because it’s closest to me and provides me with easy access to and from work. It’s also a very unique bridge. Love the design.

Stumptown Coffee or _________? Earl Gray tea. Not a coffee person, as much as everybody tells me I’d love Stumptown Coffee.

Coast or Mountains? Mountains. There’s so much to see, explore and do. I get rather bored on the coast.

Only in Portland moment? Near my friend’s house in the South East there is/was a small rocking horse bolted to the curb. Strangest thing.

A favorite local business? Bean and Tree. Small cafe right along the marina. Great pastries and my significant other loves the coffee.

Are you a car person or a bike person? Bike. I own a car, but try not to use it for anything other than long visits or heavy grocery shopping. I ride my bike everyday to work.

If you could change one thing about Portland, what would it be? More jobs. It pains me to see and hear about people not being able to work and live in this beautiful city. I hope to be able to help remedy the situation a bit someday.

And finally, where can we find you on the web?
