I Live Here: Traci Laurent

Name & Age:  Traci Laurent, 45

Hometown:  Selah, Washington

Current Neighborhood:  Irvington

How do you pay the rent and what is your slash? Pay the rent with my husband’s salary. I try to hold down the fort at home as we raise our four children. Love to volunteer at my children’s three neighborhood schools. And try to squeeze in as much tennis as I can.

What do you create?  I create a warm and fun home for my family – hopefully, they agree!

How did you land in Portland?  I was living in Seattle and was dating this handsome and funny guy in Portland. He asked me to move here, so I did. Ended up marrying him after about a year and here I am, fifteen years later…

What is the last book you read?  Cleopatra – Loved it!

Name your favorite tattoo.  Not really a tattoo gal.

What was the last thing you ate at a food cart?  Fries with truffle ketchup at Potato Champion.

Oregonian, Willamette Week, or Mercury?  Willamette Week

What is your favorite bridge and why?  St. Johns Bridge. Just looks so majestic and pretty.

Stumptown Coffee or _________?  Any good strong cup of coffee is good. Am a bit addicted to my milkman’s half and half in the coffee, a bit of decadence in the morning is nice.

Coast or Mountains?  Coast is lovely, but Mountains are wonderful!

Only in Portland moment?  Maybe not a “only in Portland thing”, but love how our kids can walk down our block and go to a number of our friendly neighbor’s houses to borrow eggs, butter, or an onion.

A favorite local business? Pearl Bakery, Powell’s Books, Por Que No?, Nordstrom (NW local), Burgerville…I could go on and on.

Are you a car person or a bike person?  I like to cruise around my neighborhood on Antoinette (my pink cruiser bike), but mostly am seen driving around in my car.

If you could change one thing about Portland, what would it be?  I can’t imagine changing anything about Portland!

And finally, where can we find you on the web? Facebook
